Uvarovite Garnet (Type Locality)

Item Description

The Saranovskii Mine in the Urals is the Type Locality of this uncommon calcite chromium-rich garnet species. Two generations of scintillating, gemmy, emerald-green uvarovite garnet crystals really sparkle on the chromite ore matrix on this very rich and excellent miniature. The larger, darker crystals, to about 1 mm, really look like emeralds and have textbook dodecahedral form. The back has been sawed to enhance the display quality.
