Item Description

Scintillating, gemmy, two-toned, emerald-green uvarovite garnet microcrystals really sparkle on the chromite matrix plate on this very rich and excellent piece from the Type Locality in Russia - the Saranovskii Mine in the Urals. The two bands of lighter colored crystals coursing across the piece really add pizzazz to this rich and showy piece. Uvarovite is the uncommon calcium chromium garnet group endmember. More crystals on the back are a bonus. The piece resembles a fish with stripes down the sides! Specimens of this quality haven't been available since the early 1990s, except for a few old lots resurfacing. THIS IS FINE SPECIMEN FROM REMAINING INVENTORY OF THIS MATERIAL, ALL PURCHASED FROM AN OLD COLLECTION.
