Item Description

The famous Saranovskii Mine is an historic large chrome producing locality, and the source of some of the best specimens of Uvarovite Garnet ever found. This rare Garnet species gets its strong green color from chromium content, and crystals are often small, only a few mm. This miniature sized hosts a druse of dozens of micro, sparkling, brilliant, rich chrome green Uvarovite crystals on chromite matrix. The largest crystal measures about 2.5 cm. These particular specimens have become very hard to find on the market in recent years, as nothing has come out of Saranovskii in years. We have photographed the crystals with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate their quality.
