Item Description

Uranophane is a hydrated uranium silicate. This RICH and SHOWY specimen features lustrous, canary-yellow crystals in a striking, flattened, acicular, radiating crystal aggregate with needles up to 2.3 cm long and as jackstraw nests of smaller crystals on matrix, which includes calcite. The New Mexico locality sounds very appropriate for a uranium locality - Poison Canyon. This is OLD, SELDOM available material from the Don Boydston Collection, a noted California collector. The Filer"s label dates from 1949-1956, during the height of the uranium craze in the Southwest. FEDEX shipping worldwide - no problem. Valued $900-1250 as this is superb for the species from a US locale but also quite good by ANY standard for the species
