Unusually etched Morganite (Smale Coll.)

Item Description

A striking, unusually etched and formed morganite crystal from Afghanistan and the Steve Smale Collection. The highly lustrous and gemmy crystal is a pleasing pastel-pink and is obviously heavily etched. It is partially hexagonal and is distinctly tapered in thickness from the etching. This is a dramatic, floater crystal. Two of the corners appear to be contacted, but it's hard to tell from the etching. Either way this is striking, large and unusual example of the species from the locale. Steve valued this at $1000 in a trade to me 6-8 years ago. Current value is bit more today. This would be good gem rough. 251 grams.
