Item Description
Quartz is known as a matrix from the historic Dry Gill Mine of Caldbeck Fells, but to find classic campylite mimetite crystals aesthetically attached to a sharp, terminated quartz crystal is RARE. Campylite, the barrel-shaped mimetite varietal, is one of the most recognizable and desirable English species and the Dry Gill Mine furnished the very finest examples. Distinctive, sharp, lustrous, rusty-orange striated barrels, to 7 mm, are dramatically clustered near the termination of the frosted, translucent quartz crystal. This very fine and rare combination comes from an East Coast collection and comes with a water-stained label from well-known Cornwall dealer, Ralph Lowe.
