Item Description

NOTE THIS WAS ORIGINALLY POSTED IN ERROR AS A WULFENITE, NOW CORRECTED: Barite is RARE from the extinct Juanita Mine, near the famous Kelly Mine. All sides of this striking sculptural V-shaped small cabinet are covered with yellow-brown or red oxide-tinted thin paper crystal plates, to 2.0 cm. A few glassy, colorless tabular calcite plates on one side are a nice accent. The Juanita closed in 1937. Willard Wulff (died 1998), a well-known avid Colorado field collector, assembled a fine collection and probably collected this outstanding rarity in the 1950s or 60s. A MUST for the species or New Mexico collector!   we did not recognize the mislabel on this, and it is a barite, not a wulfenite as the label stated
