Item Description
Quartz is a common accessory at Morro Velho, but rarely do we see it as doubly terminated crystals like this. This is a sharp, super glassy, almost total gem, DT Quartz crystal exhibiting sharp faces and edges. It is nearly three inches long and over an inch wide and actually displays a multiple termination at one end. A tiny ding is present on one point and a slightly larger one on the other termination. There is one internal fracture mid-way in the crystal that reflects light and is completely contained within the crystal and doesn't reach the surface anywhere which is unusual. There is also an off-white veiled inclusion that is about an inch long running vertically in the crystal. It is a bit perplexing in that one part of it looks like a striated mineral inclusion, whereas, another part looks like the string of a faden Quartz and it does have microcrystals of Quartz growing perpendicular to the string! Never seen anything like it!! For added interest, there is a small cluster of 5 to 7 mm, light brown, translucent, disc-shaped Siderite crystals at the end with the multiple Quartz terminations. A very cool piece! Old material, likely 1980s and previous.
