unusual Malachite stalactite coated with Chrysocolla

A fascinating and highly unusual malachite stalactite from the copper-cobalt mines of DR Congo. This very sculptural and dramatic stalactite "finger" is coated with greenish-blue Chrysocolla, increasing the color palette. The striking sudden change in the "finger" size, concentric stacking of the intergrown botryoids and the two highly anomalous areas revealing the underlying malachite add much character to this remarkable piece. The broken base reveals the tubes where the precipitating copper-rich fluids flowed to form the stalactites, an added nifty addition.
