Item Description
Dramatic architecture on this sculptural large orthoclase from a lesser-known American locality. Orthoclase usually does not make for very interesting specimens, and is mostly an accessory mineral on specimens of OTHER minerals. This aesthetic 360-degree specimen with elegant form is composed of striking elongated columnals of stacked crystals, The crystals grew in parallel, terminating in a tiered arrangement. The cluster is complete all around and the terminations are all there on top. Choice material from an obscure Organ Mts. locality from the Chris Cowan Collection, a New Mexico specialist.
