Item Description
A unique style of malachite from this obscure Garvin County locality. This is a dramatic large foliated malachite nodule! All sides of the sculptural light green malachite dramatize the striking laminated/layered nature of the piece. Most specimens we've seen from Paoli are lumpy, nubby aggregates or botryoidal aggregates on sandstone matrix. MINDAT lists numerous Oklahoma localities for the species, but only has four examples in the Photo Gallery. This is an exceptional, rich and rare large Oklahoma malachite of very unusual style from the Joe Lobell Collection of Oklahoma. Joe is a well-known retired dealer and field collector of Oklahoma and Texas material.
