Item Description
An exceptional beryl from this well-known Minas Gerais locale. The pleasing light green crystal is very gemmy, glassy and lustrous. It has dramatic architecture with the four parallel, stepped-growth crystals. The striking sharp notch on side with the nearby cute opposing crystal embedded in the side are superlative accents to this outstanding beryl from the Kay Robertson Collection # 6312 and acquired in the early 1970s, when the pegmatites were active. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only trivial termination and side wear and a bit of basal periphery wear. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). 47 grams mass. VERY RARE on the market in this beautiful style and quality. Valued at $1250-1500.
