Item Description
Fluorite is very uncommon from any of the numerous Brazil localities listed by MINDAT. This highly unusual and rare small cabinet is from the famous Santa Rosa pegmatite in Minas Gerais. The sculptural tabular compound crystal is water-clear with a faint green hue and the satin luster faces are strikingly etched on all sides. Rich purple fluorescence. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 13079 and acquired from The Rocksmiths in the early 1990s (their label is included). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). A fascinating rare style fluorite from an unexpected locale.
