Item Description
Striking, sharply formed calcite from Charcas. The unusual stalactite is composed of stacked, sharp, lustrous, translucent, stepped-growth blocky rhombs. All of the stepped-growth faces have a rich preferential dusting of iron oxides, which gives this very sculptural piece a distinctive look. Back lighting and the broken base shows the filled hollow tube inside, where the precipitating calcite carbonate fluids flowed! Faint pink calcite fluorescence. Fascinating, RARE style, 360-degree, older calcite from the 1960s or 70s. Ex Tom Wolfe Calcite Collection.
