Unusual Calcite (Schlichter Coll.)

Item Description

An unusually formed, sculptural CABINET calcite specimen from Dalnegorsk. The highly lustrous, tan, iron oxide-tinted rhombs have intense and intricate stepped-growth upon close examination. The variability in rhomb size and crystal structure are indeed, striking. The large complex rhomb is 5.3 cm and nearby are dense, parallel-growth, artistic groupings of small, flattening rhombs. This dramatic calcite appears to be a floater or near floater, with just a couple of points of periphery wear. It displays well from both sides and from many different angles. An excellent and uncommon calcite form from this noted locale. Ex Schlichter Collection and valued $300-400 for unique quality.
