Unusual Calcite on Pyrite (2023 find)

Striking, really cool, highly sculptural, multi-generational, two-sided Calcite with Pyrite from this well-known Chinese iron mine. The front of the small cabinet sawed triangular matrix is festooned with tiny, brassy, Pyritohedrons. An absolutely stunning, pristine, 5.0 cm, "corsage" of stacked, tapered, transparent to translucent, glassy and lustrous calcite rhombohedrons dramatically crowns the specimen. These fantastic stacks resemble stepped Mayan pyramids. The pyrite below hosts scattered, gem-like, transparent, complex calcite rhombohedrons, to 1.5 cm. The back and one side are festooned with another generation of tiny, sparkly, orange calcite rhombohedrons. This surreal, excellent and highly unusual calcite is from a limited 2023 find at the mine.
