Item Description

This is certainly one of the most interesting and unusual looking calcite on fluorite specimens, that any of us have seen from the now-closed Elmwood Mine. The tilted and frosted, blocky calcite "bench" has a back and "legs" of classic, gemmy and lustrous, golden-amber, calcite scalenohedrons! The jagged back is particularly striking. The "bench" rests on a thin limestone crust partially covered with purple fluorite. The back of the piece is also striking, giving another perspective to this most unusual Elmwood calcite. Ex Dr. Steve Neely Collection, a well-known connoisseur of Elmwood minerals.
