Item Description
A striking and rare tourmaline oddity from a small find at this less well-known Madagascar pegmatite field. 40 % or 3.5 cm of this very glassy, striated, tapered crystal is stunning, gorgeous, gem teal-green and teal-blue. The remainder of the crystal is truly bizarre, as it is partially resorbed. Most unusual pocket chemistry here! The dramatic angled etched termination and the sides show the resorbed interior rubellite colors of reds, oranges and yellows with most colorful effect! This is certainly one of the most unusual partially gem tourmalines you will see from anywhere! Ex Bill Larson/Pala International Collection, acquired in the 1990s and long on the display at the California store. 65 grams mass. Valued at $2500-3000 for striking high unusual quality.
