Unusual bi-colored DT Tourmaline (David Burgess Coll.)

Item Description

A really cute doubly terminated bi-colored matrix tourmaline from the famous Himalaya Mine. The highly lustrous, glassy, well-striated crystal has a gemmy, rich raspberry-red pyramidal termination followed by the classic "Himalaya pink" body. The basal termination includes a striking, gemmy teal-blue area. And the whole crystal is aesthetically attached to a shard of feldspar matrix and the little rosette of lepidolite on the side is a fine accessory. Essentially pristine, with only a trivial bit of termination bruising. A classic and excellent bi-colored matrix Himalaya, possibly from the 1970s or earlier. Valued at $500-700 and worth it for color and form. Ex David Burgess Collection.
