Item Description
A rare and showy calcite varietal from this well-known mine famous for gray calcite with marcasite/chalcopyrite. The sculptural, glassy, translucent, straw-yellow to colorless, rhomb is strongly twinned. The "head" sticking out of the front adds much pizzazz, making the piece look like a large turtle. The striking feature is that the back of the crystal is heavily etched. Very rare style and choice material from the Cynthia Payne Calcite Collection. Valued by the former dealer at $295 for rarity and quality.
