Item Description

Ullmannite is an uncommon Ni-Sb-sulfosalt and is a member of the Cobaltite Group. Lustrous, sharp, cubic, blue-gray ullmannite crystals to 5 mm are aesthetically clustered atop a wedge of brecciated matrix, that includes much starkly contrasting calcite from this old extinct silver-sulfide mine. This is a rare, classic ullmannite from this important locality. It is not the type locale, but is probably the more famous as many fine specimens were collected here in the early to mid-1800s. More recently, some friends of mine have reworked these old mines and found a few specimens I was happy to get - this was in Munich in the mid-2000s,probably 7-8 years ago. THis is a last survivor from that fine lot, found in our old inventory recently. It could be valued $750-950
