Item Description

Tyuyamunite is a widespread secondary calcium, uranium, vanadium hyrdrate. The species is well known for its amazing neon-yellow to lemon-yellow color. One face of this very rich specimen is covered with a crust of neon-yellow tyuyamunite, with other faces covered with sparkly, microcrystalline, lemon-yellow and neon-yellow crusts. Another face of the sandstone matrix is covered with scintillating calcite microcrystals. Striking, very colorful and uncommon material from this district. The Grants District is in Cibola and McKinley Counties. Older material from the Mullane Collection.
