Type Locality Titanium Cover piece suite & signed book

Item Description

Fine reference suite of Rutile, Brookite, and Anatase, the three major polymorphs of TiO2, Titanium Dioxide. Notably, this lot includes the book with all three pieces shown on the cover! This suite has 3 killer thumbnails, a superb miniature brookite crystal from Russia, and two larger reference locality pieces with small crystals = overall something unique! All 5 from Lauf are published in the book, as a bonus. This suite, as shown on the cover, was a point of pride in the large collection of Dr. Robert J. Lauf, and such published and Type Locality specimens are both of particular interest to collectors. The  (1) Horcavelo, Spain rutile twin is Ex. Folch collection (approx 1.5 cm tall, a fine thumbnail specimen). (2)The bright red, reticulated twinned Rutile from Diamantina, Brazil, is 1.5 x 1 cm; (3)The anatase from Bourg d'Ouissans has tiny micro crystals, bright and shiny, from the rare type locale in France and is approx., 6 cm across; (4)the Urals brookite is 3.4 cm tall and gorgeous, translucent, and fine; and (5) there is a sharp Russian anatase (crystals to 8mm and lustrous and gemmy!) on matrix from Dodo in the Ural Mountains; and (6) one more specimen of matrix brookite with tiny but sharp crystals from Arkansas, that I added as a gift here. This all comes together with a signed copy of the book.
