Twisted Smoky Quartz gwindel w/ Adularia (Belsky Coll.)

A classic and beautiful Alpine smoky quartz gwindel from Switzerland. The color is deep smoky and it is enhanced by the extreme transparency and luster of the specimen. The termination faces are etched and coated with chlorite and the glassy adularia crystals on one side are a super accent. Technically this is an "closed" gwindel, with both termination end edges having prism faces. It is also, obviously, a twisted quartz, or gwindel by the traditional term for them. The twist is subtle, but present. The side with the adularia is pristine, with the other side having only very trivial edge wear on the top. The color, transparency and luster on this very fine textbook crystal is also exceptional. Ex Howard Belsky Collection. An outstanding gwindel his extensive Alpine quartz collection.
