Item Description

Splendent, sharp, twinned, cassiterite crystals richly cover the matrix on this very showy and uncommon specimen from the famous Siglo XX Mine of Bolivia. Seldom are cassiterites of any quality available from this noted locale. Most fine Bolivian cassiterites come from the Viloco Mine in La Paz Department. The crystals reach 1.6 cm. Some crystals are very gemmy in a rich golden-amber, while other are opaque. A few broken crystals are noted, but have minimal impact on this rare and excellent specimen from a historic locale. Ex Howard Belsky Collection. Howard started as a mineral dealer at age 13 in 1972, became a sophisticated dealer and died tragically at age 28 in 1987. His collection recently became available to us through his family.
