Item Description
A lot of people don't associate Arkansas with Turquoise, but the Mona Lisa Mine is arguably the premier locality for the species in the state. The combination of beautiful blue and green colors along with some display quality specimens make them very desirable, especially now that nothing has come out since the 1980s after the mine was permanently closed. This attractive thumbnail specimen features spherical groups of beautiful sky blue colored Turquoise sitting on novaculite / chert matrix. A must have for any fan of Turquoise, or for any thumbnail collector who is looking to cross an item off their wish list. From the collection of Henry de Linde (March 21, 1923 – April 4, 2019) of Hot Spring, Arkansas. Henry was one of the most prominent figures in the history of Arkansas mining and mineral collecting. Along with being a miner, mineral collector and an amateur mineralogist, de Linde was one of the founders of the Coon Creek Association mineral club. He was the owner of several key localities in Arkansas including the Diamond Jo Quarry (on the south rim of Magnet Cove), the type locality for Delindeite, which was named in his honor in 1987.
