Item Description
Here we have a notably hard to find Turquoise specimen from the famed Chuquicamata Mine in Chile. This piece, to the best of my memory is the ONLY specimen of this material that we've had to offer from this giant copper deposit (mindat.org states it is the world's largest open-pit copper mine). While Turquoise is not considered to be a rare species, it's quite difficult to obtain them from this locality. This small cabinet specimen features gorgeous bright robins egg blue patches of Turquoise in host rock matrix. The quality of the Turquoise in terms of the consistency of color (with no cracks or dark "veins"/lines) and saturation is quite pleasant. I will point out that the piece has a few saw marks, but it does allow the piece to sit up nicely on its own without the aid of a base or clay.
From the collection of John Dagenais (#JD-850), and originally from the collection of Lloyd Twaites of Vancouver, Canada.
