Item Description
Beautiful and sculptural 27 gram turquoise nugget with classic fine turquoise-blue color and blue-green accents from this extinct Arkansas phosphate mine in novaculite, worked intermittently from 1950 to 1981 (MINDAT). This totally natural nugget is from the only gem quality turquoise mine in the eastern portion of the US! This old-timer was collected in the 1960s and turquoise was collected by the mine over 40 years ago and stashed in his garage. We recently obtained some specimens from him. Such natural nuggets are rare, as most are crushed for powder or carved for cabochons. Obtained from mine owner James Zigras out of the private stash of the predecessor owner, who had some old material.
