Item Description

From an old collection of a jeweler, this is a huge lapidary assortment of blue turquoise slabs and cabochons from one of the most famous locations for carving quality turquoise: The Sleeping Beauty mine is near Globe, AZ, and closed in 2012. Sleeping Beauty turquoise was noted for its solid, light blue color with no matrix. This lot came from the old estate of a longtime lapidary dealer, and had been wrapped up and in a box for decades. The largest nugget is 68 grams and 6.7 x 4.8 x 1.6 cm. The largest cut slab is 69.4 grams and 9 x 8 x 6 cm in size. Sold as a lot ONLY. 590 grams of beautiful, mixed sizes of turquoise pebbles, nodules, and slabs from the famous Sleeping Beauty Turquoise Mine, long considered to be one of the most important American Turquoise mines in the world for the quality of the robin's-egg blue material.
