Item Description

This specimen was only labeled as coming from "China", but it's very likely from the Bijiashan Turquoise Mine in Anhui. The piece is a lovely rounded "nugget" with pleasing greenish-blue color and good textural form. It has a bit of matrix to break up the Turquoise, giving it contrast and character. A cool specimen of a mineral that is not typically seen from China in specimens, as much of it ends up being used for lapidary purposes.  From the collection of Vasco Trancoso, a medical doctor and prominent mineral collector from near Lisbon, Portugal (https://www.mindat.org/user-11954.html).    He assembled his mineral collection over the course of 60 years, and built a fine worldwide display collection that we recently purchased.
