Item Description

Tunellite is a rare Borate, originally discovered in Boron, California, and only found in about ten localities around the world. The species was named after George Tunell, who was a professor of geochemistry, University of California. Fine crystallized display specimens like this are few and far between. A beautiful group of sharp, well-formed, gemmy / translucent, pearly blocky monoclinic crystals in what appears to be a "floater", as I can't really find a point of attachment. I honesty don't see any damage either, which is remarkable for a piece of this size. It's honestly one of the best examples of the species that I've seen. Individual crystals measure up to 4.3 cm. Valued at $1800 for the size, quality and the fact that it's virtually unblemished.
