Tsavorite Garnet

Tsavorite is one of the most valuable Garnets on the market. It is chemically vanadium and/or chromium bearing variety of Grossular and was discovered over 40 years ago in Kenya. Tsavorite has for many years been a rare, high-in-demand gemstone in the retail market, and thus commands a high price due its rarity and beauty. In recent years there have been some fine Tsavorites coming out of nearby Tanzania (the same area where the Tanzanite crystals are being mined), which are a different hue than their Kenyan counterparts. This gem is a superb, bright green, nearly eye clean, "Round Brilliant" cut gem and is very good quality all around. This particular stone was cut from a piece of rough that was mined only a few years ago.
