Trona pseudomorphs after Halite on Trona (rare) (NEW FIND!)

This is a showy and attractive large cabinet display specimen of this new and rare material from Owens Lake in California. We acquired this piece from a friend who collected it earlier this year (2022). It features rarely seen and fine quality Trona crystals forming pseudomorphs after Halite. Trona is an uncommon evaporative carbonate species (the name is actually a Swedish term, but was derived from the Arabic world "natrum" meaning native salt). Some of the best known examples ever found are those from Owens Lake where Halite is not terribly common. I can honestly say that I've never see anything quite like it before. I'm sure most of you have seen Halite crystals on Trona before, but this is an incredibly RARE pseudomorph where the skeletal cubic Halite crystals have been pseudomorphed by Trona as well! So this is essentially a specimen of Trona ON Trona, but in the form of a pseudomorph. It's a great quality display specimen featuring these beautiful soft beige colored pseudomorphs, the largest measuring 3.6 cm on edge scattered all over the underlying matrix. No major damage so attractive up close! Valued at $1,250 PLEASE NOTE: Trona is soluble in water, so do not expose it to moisture, and if you live in a humid environment, try to keep this closed off from moisture in a sealed bag/box. A special and impressive example of this new and exciting material.
