Item Description

Here we have an attractive display specimen of Trona from Owens Lake, California. Some of the best known examples of the species ever found are those from this locality. This specimen comes to us from a new find (2022), collected by a good friend of ours that we picked up in Tucson this year. The piece features sharp, lustrous, gemmy, golden-brown colored crystals of Trona measuring up to 2.0 cm with no matrix. No major damage so attractive up close! PLEASE NOTE: Trona is soluble in water, so do not expose it to moisture, and if you live in a humid environment, try to keep this closed off from moisture in a sealed bag/box. Trona is an uncommon evaporative carbonate species (the name is actually a Swedish term, but was derived from the Arabic world "natrum" meaning native salt).
