Item Description

Trona is an uncommon evaporative carbonate species (the name is actually a Swedish term, but was derived from the Arabic world "natrum" meaning native salt. Some of the best known examples ever found are those from Owens Lake in California. This piece is a good quality example featuring a rich plate of beautiful soft golden colored, thick, tabular crystals measuring up to 3.6 cm well-defined prismatic striations and good luster sitting on matrix. Most of the crystals are in excellent condition, though I can see a few bruises here and there. It's obviously contacted around the base of the matrix where the piece was removed from where it formed, but overall, it's a really nice example of these superb crystallized specimens of Trona. PLEASE NOTE: Trona is soluble in water, so do not wash this off to try to clean it.
