Item Description

A wonderful collector specimen featuring fairly well-formed euhedral orthorhombic (pseudohexagonal) crystals of the rare and sought after phosphate Triphylite associated with Mica and Albite matrix. The crystals have the characteristic soft grey-blue color that is often seen from Palermo. The largest Triphylite measures 1.1 cm and the fact they are exposed and sitting up on the specimen is a great bonus. New England has produced some of the most attractive and well konwn Triphylite crystals in the world, but fully-formed / terminated examples are few and far between in my experience with the material. From the collection of noted Colorado geologist, Allen Heyl, the namesake for the phosphate Aheylite.
