Item Description

An expertly prepped, fine, large (5.0 cm), trilobite from this classic US locale, the Silica Shale of Ohio. The lustrous fossil is fully inflated, the details of the thick exoskeleton are excellent and the compound faceted eyes are totally intact. A few tiny pyrite crystals on the fossil are a nice accent. The species is Eldredgeops crassituberculata (late Middle and earliest Upper Devonian 388-372 MYA). An excellent trilobite from the Dr. Barratt Phillips Collection.
