Item Description

A highly unusual mineral species, this display quality specimen shows off unusual form: light tan acicular crystals aggregated in parallel thin rods, and then terminated at the point of growth by what looks like a thin plate of Muscovite. From: Luiz Menezes, Fine Brazilian Minerals, Belo Horizonte, Brazil, with receipt. Luiz was the premiere dealer in Brazilian rarities. We have not seen this material before, and it is certainly unusual! We had to look it up, as it sounded suspiciously like the name for starship fuel from the Star Trek series; and found this on google: Noun. trilithionite. (mineralogy) A monoclinic-prismatic white mineral (of the mica group) containing aluminum, fluorine, lithium, oxygen, potassium, and silicon.
