Item Description
Tridymite is the triclinic polymorph of Quartz (silicon dioxide) that is typically found in low-temperature high pressure volcanic environments. Some of the best examples of the species are those found at Vechec, Vranov in Slovakia. This piece features classic, platy, pale golden yellow crystal groups of Tridymite measuring up to a few mm on volcanic rock matrix. Good quality, and beautiful to view up close. These are classics, and it's certainly rare to find this polymorph on the market. A great chance to pick up something that is not often offered for sale. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9811). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
