Item Description
A classic example of the pinkish-purple Hexagonites (a manganoan variety of Tremolite) from one of the few localities for the material. Hexagonite is only found in New York state, and the pieces from the St. Lawrence County are iconic. This piece (according to the label) features Hexagonite in schist, but it could be associated with Anthophyllite (an Amphibole species). Classic and hard to find material from upstate New York. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#7904). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
