Item Description
Tremolite is a member of the Tremolite-Actinolite Series of the Amphibole Group. It is an important rock forming mineral, most commonly in granular or fibrous form. This impressive, single crystal (contacted at the bottom) is translucent to gemmy, with a fibrous termination akin to the Talc it is often found in. It is unusual for the Tremolite to be colorless and clear, so this crystal is probably lacking the green chromophore of chromium or vanadium. Many localities in this area are remote and obscure, hence the more general location information at the time of the purchase in the late 1990s. This a rare and fine Tremolite crystal with textbook shape, a sharp form, and highly unusual among its peers. We have not seen another like it.
