Item Description

Of the THOUSANDS of localities where Tremolite is found, I would have never guessed that the type locality is high in the Swiss Alps. The locality at Campolungo is known for its Tourmalines, Chrysoberyls and Corundum crystals, but it has produced fine quality Tremolites that don't get the recognition they deserve. This piece features a handful of sharp, well-formed, prismatic, thin crystals of silvery grey colored Tremolite measuring up to 3.7 cm long on a granular matrix. Good quality and very hard to find on the market! This is not the frosty, chatoyant "needles" that we've seen in the past, as the quality on this specimen is BETTER than most I've seen. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#2164). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
