Item Description
A classic Tremolite specimen from the old Redwing Marble Quarry, which started operating all the way back in 1866. This piece is from more recent mining, and is a beautiful "spray"-like cluster (almost resembling a sea urchin) composed of dozen of grey-white prismatic crystals of Tremolite measuring up to 1.0 cm. No matrix to be seen, and the piece is crystallized virtually all the way around. Some terminations are contacted, but the overall form and appearance is not compromised. A great example of this very hard to find material from this historic locality in Canaan. From the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered.
