Tremolite (chromium-bearing) (rare ''Trapiche''-esque form)

This is a very hard to find crystal of vibrant green chromium-bearing Tremolite from the gem corundum deposits at Mangari (mistakenly labeled as Magadi), Kenya. This is the only specimen of this material that we've ever had to offer, and I could only find one other example online for comparison on mindat.org (https://www.mindat.org/photo-912643.html). Not only does this crystal have a fantastic color on a couple faces, but it has lighter colored green zoning, which runs INTO the center, creating a pseudo "Trapiche" effect. You can best see the effect when you look down the "c" axis of the crystal. It's the only Tremolite crystal I've ever seen in person which such stark and pronounced color differentiation, and it's certainly a unique novelty that would make a great addition to any thumbnail suite, or a collection of minerals from East Africa. A really special piece, and certainly something that we are not likely to have again to offer anytime soon. From the collection of William ("Bill") (1927-2006) and Anne (1928-2021) Cook of Cleveland, Ohio (#6720). This husband and wife duo were actively involved in the mineral world for many decades. Bill was a PhD geologist, and Anne was a mathematician, and they both were very serious mineral collectors. Bill served for many years as adjunct curator of mineralogy at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, and Anne was inducted into the Micromounters' Hall of Fame on October 12, 2019. Both Bill and Anne, at various times, served as president both of the Mineralogical Society of Cleveland and of the Micromineral Society of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, and Anne was inducted into the mi The rare barium lithium beryllium phosphate Wilancookite was named in their honor in 2015.
