Item Description
A lovely tabular, prismatic crystals of bright, electric green Tremolite from the famed Merelani Hills of Tanzania (the source of the world's Tanzanite supply). This single crystal is not only gemmy, but has well developed, striated, crystal faces with great luster and fantastic color. Minor roughness can be seen on the edges, but the termination is pristine, and the piece is very attractive in person. Tremolite is a relatively common rock forming mineral, which is often found in muted and dull dues, so it's important to keep in mind only a small percentage of Tremolite occurrences throughout the world produce such beautiful crystals as this. The glowing green color of this piece is due to chromium content, which is found in many minerals in this area, and it's such a potent chromophore that it intensifies the hue of virtually any mineral in which it is found. A striking example for the species.
