Tourmaline with Quartz, Cleavelandite, Albite and Lepidolite

An older and large combination Himalaya Mine Tourmaline specimen with associated Smoky Quartz, Clevelandite, Albite, Lepidolite and Schorl Tourmaline all on massive quartz matrix. The centerpiece is the elegant 5 cm, sharp, lustrous, gemmy Tourmaline that alternates from pink to green back to a pink capped termination. The crystal does have a small natural fracture due to tectonic activity underground, but is in overall good condition and appears to be unrepaired. There is so much to take in on the piece from the combination of the gemmy purple Lepidolite on the Albite crystal and wrapping around the Quartz on the top to the white bladed Cleavelandite waterfalling from the Quartz and main Tourmaline down the pocket to the smaller 2 cm bi-colored Tourmalines. There is some damage noted to this large cabinet piece, as seen on a couple of some of the quartz crystals and the other secondary tourmalines. It is what it is, but there is still a lot of beauty and intrigue to this wonderful piece, which is an impactful and display sized part of San Diego history. We rarely see surviving examples of this size.
