Item Description
A showy, old-time, Himalaya tourmaline from Robert Whitmore Collection. The body of the gemmy and lustrous crystal is the classic "Himalaya pink". Unusual for the locale, the gemmier termination is essentially colorless. The tourmaline also has an uncommon for the locale shape - one side is flattened, elongated and looks like it has a tail. Diverging blades of cleavelandite on one side give a nifty wing-like look to the piece. The tourmaline is complete all-around and is pristine. Trivial edgewear to the cleavelandite blades is certainly not a detraction. This piece undoubtabley dates to the 60s or 70s, as the Whitmore number is 9 on the bottom. 26 grams.
