Item Description
A gorgeous, gemmy and lustrous, renowned "hot" pink tourmaline from the famous Stewart Mine of California. This was the older and far more famous (at the time) cousin of the Himalaya Mine, but alas its production was not as great or as recent and it is fading into memory a bit. This beautiful, striated crystal has a classic pink tourmaline body: followed by a sea foam-green zone; a pastel-blue zone; and then a very thin pink zone below the termination. The pinacoidal termination is colorless, lustrous and etched. A true tri-colored tourmaline from the Stewart. The backlit photos highlight the vivid pink color saturation! It just GLOWS with color - and our photos are taken in normal lighting with nothing fancy to make it look too good in the photos. It IS better in person. The purple lepidolite blades are a super accent. Very nearly pristine, though it is not totally free of damage and a trivial bit of side contacting is noted; but is certainly a modest detraction to this stunning tourmaline. Old material from the 1960s, and very seldom available in this quality. Ex Maury Morgenstein Collection (an old-time San Diego miner and gem dealer). 10 grams.
