Item Description

Attention Tourmaline collectors! Here we have a rarely seen example of the beautiful pink Rubellites from a lesser known pegmatite locality in Portugal of all places. I had not seen one of these in person before I picked up this specimen, and I wanted to give everybody a chance to get their hands on it because I don't know when I'll have another one. The name Seixo Amarelo translates into "yellow pebble" or "yellow quartz", and is essentially an old, sparsely populated parish in northeastern Portugal. The locality is actually south of Seixo Amarelo, and is an open pit featuring aplito-pegmatitic veins once mined for lithium but now the material goes to the ceramincs industry. This piece features a gemmy, lustrous, bright pink, narrow prismatic Rubellite Tourmaline crystal measuring 2.1 cm in sericite matrix. Good quality for the material, and how many of you have a Rubellite Tourmaline from Portugal in your collections? Don't miss out, these are not common on the market.
