Tourmaline var. Rubellite

This gemmy, frosted, pink Rubellite Tourmaline crystal is from the famous finds at Mogok, Burma. The crystal is is 1.8 cm across, and the attractive broad, glassy mushroom habit adds to the aesthetics. These "mushroom" - type tourmalines are some of the most unusual Tourmalines ever found and they are much sought after. They are not so common now that there is an embargo on importing from Burma to the US; but more than that there availability was declining as specimen mining was diminishing.
